California Job Applicant Privacy Notice

Here at Jerry, we care about your personal information. (“Jerry,” “we,” or “us” refers collectively to Jerry Insurance Agency LLC, Jerry Offers Inc., and its affiliates.) This California Job Applicant Privacy Notice (“Notice”) describes our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information for California residents who apply for a position with us. We provide this Notice to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, as amended (Cal. Civ. Code §§ 1798.100 to 1798.199) (the “CCPA”), and any terms defined in the CCPA have the same meaning when used in this Notice.
Please note that this Notice applies only to job applicants who are residents of the State of California. For information on our collection and use of consumer personal information, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
Personal Information We Collect: We have collected the following categories of personal information from job applicants within the last 12 months. The specific personal information we collect about you will depend on your application status, and not all categories of personal information listed below are collected for all applicants:
- Identifiers, such as your name, alias, postal address, Internet Protocol address, email address, or other similar identifiers.
- Personal information categories listed in the California Customer Records statute, such as your name, signature, postal address, telephone number, education, employment, and employment history.
- Protected classifications under California or federal law, such as your citizenship status and whether you require visa sponsorship to work in the U.S.
- Internet or other similar network activity, such as your interactions with an application or job advertisement.
- Geolocation data, such as the approximate location of the device used to access an application.
- Sensory data, such as audio or video recordings of interviews and voicemails left for our recruiting team.
- Professional or employment-related information, such as your resume, cover letter, work history, job titles, work authorization, professional references, and information created by us during the recruitment process, such as interview notes.
- Non-public education information, such as your academic transcripts and records of degrees or certifications obtained.
- Inferences drawn from other personal information, such as scores or profiles created by our recruiting team to assess your fit for a role.
- Sensitive personal information, such as your citizenship status.
Sources of Personal Information: We primarily receive personal information directly from you. We may also receive some personal information from you indirectly, or from a third party, such as:
- References you provide
- Former employers
- Recruiters
- Educational institutions
- Credentialing and licensing organizations
- Publicly accessible websites and databases
- Third-party job sites
How We Use Personal Information: Our use of personal information may vary depending on the circumstances and specific applicant. Generally, we may use the personal information we collect about you for one or more of the following purposes:
- To evaluate your qualifications for employment and assess your fit for specific roles.
- To communicate with you about your application, interviews, or related matters.
- To obtain and verify references and employment history.
- To maintain security and detect fraudulent activity.
- To evaluate and improve our recruiting methods and strategies.
- To comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
Retention of Personal Information: We will retain your personal information for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Notice and to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations. We use the following criteria to determine our retention periods:
- The length of time personal information is required to be retained to assess your application.
- Whether your application is successful and you are subsequently employed by us.
- As required by a legal obligation to which we are subject.
Disclosure of Personal Information: In the last 12 months, we have disclosed your personal information to our employees and service providers who require such information to assist us with recruitment. When we contract with these service providers, we do not permit them to use or disclose your information for any purpose other than the work they are doing on our behalf or as required by law. We may also disclose your personal information to third parties in order to comply with legal obligations.
Sale & Sharing of Personal Information: We do not sell or share any applicant personal information, including sensitive personal information, and have not sold or shared any applicant personal information in the past 12 months.
Your Rights: As a California resident, you have specific rights regarding your personal information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. You can exercise these rights by emailing us at privacy@getjerry.com. In your email, please include (i) your full name and email address, (ii) that you are a California job applicant, (iii) the position you applied for, and (iv) a description of your request.
- Right to Know: You can request that we provide you what categories of personal information we collected about you, the categories of sources for that information, the purpose for which we collected your personal information, and the categories of third parties to whom we disclose your personal information.
- Data Portability: You can request that we provide you the specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you in the past 12 months. If you choose to exercise this right, we will require you to provide a written declaration under penalty of perjury stating that you are the applicant whose personal information is the subject of the request.
- Right to Delete: You can request that we delete personal information we collected from you. Please be aware that our ability to delete this information may be limited due to our legal and regulatory obligations and operational necessities.
- Right to Correct: You can request that we correct inaccurate personal information we have about you.
Changes to This Notice: We reserve the right to amend this Notice at our discretion and at any time. When we make material changes to this Notice, we will notify you by posting an updated Notice on our website and listing the effective date.
