Washington state drivers have been seeing increases in their auto insurance costs over the last several years. According to S&P Global’s data, Washington state has seen a 43% increase from January 2019 to September 2024, with the biggest increases happening in 2023 and 2024 of 20.2% and 16.3% respectively.
Washington hasn’t raised its state-mandated minimum coverages since 1980, which require drivers to carry these minimum coverages:
- $25,000 for bodily injury or death of one person.
- $50,000 for bodily injury or death of two people.
- $10,000 for damage to other peoples’ property.
