Jerry’s editorial analyses found that Auto-Owners offers the best car insurance in Arizona. Here’s a rundown of why it’s the top pick, plus other well-rated insurers available in the state.
If you need cheap car insurance in Arizona, be sure to compare quotes from multiple insurers to get the best rate.
Best car insurance in Arizona overall: Auto-Owners
Why it’s the best: Auto-Owners has 4.9 stars due to its superior financial strength rating and few customer complaints. Auto-Owners also ranks No. 2 out of 13 insurers for overall customer satisfaction in the Southwest region, according to J.D. Power’s 2024 Auto Insurance Study.
Auto-Owners offers several perks that could reduce your out-of-pocket expenses after an accident, including a waived collision coverage deductible if you’re in an accident with another vehicle insured by Auto-Owners. If you bundle your home and auto insurance, you’ll only pay one deductible, or have your auto deductible waived completely, if both are damaged in a covered event. Arizona drivers may also be able to add at-fault accident forgiveness, gap insurance and rental car coverage to their policies.
Discounts may be available for bundling policies, paying your premium in full, paying on time for 36 consecutive months, going paperless, getting a quote prior to the start date of your policy and driving a car with qualifying safety features.
Students may save if they have a B average or better, or attend school more than 100 miles from home and don’t have a vehicle. Teenagers may get a discount if they drive a car with a permanently installed GPS, or let their driving be tracked by an eligible mobile app.
Runner-up: Geico
Why it’s the best: Geico scores 5 stars because of its superior financial strength rating and few customer complaints. Geico scored below average in J.D. Power’s 2024 Southwest Auto Insurance Study, which makes it Jerry’s pick for runner-up.
Drivers in Arizona may get discounts for bundling policies, maintaining a clean driving record or opting into Geico’s telematics program, DriveEasy, and practicing safe driving habits. Drivers 50 and older who voluntarily complete a qualifying defensive driving course may also get a discount.
Arizona drivers may be able to customize their policies with roadside assistance. If their policy includes comprehensive coverage, they can also choose a no-deductible option for glass damage. Customers can request roadside assistance on the Geico mobile app, as well as manage a policy, see insurance ID cards and get repair estimates by uploading photos of the damaged vehicle.

Honorable mention: CSAA Insurance Group
While not yet rated by Jerry, CSAA Insurance Group was ranked No. 1 out of 13 insurers for overall customer satisfaction in the Southwest region, according to J.D. Power’s 2024 Auto Insurance Study. This study ranks insurance companies based on factors like cost and consumer trust.
In Arizona, you may get discounts for having multiple policies with CSAA, paying your premium in full or driving a limited number of miles. Qualifying drivers who complete a driver training program may also save. Students can get a discount if they’re included on their parent’s policy and have good grades and clean driving records.
If you’re invited to join CSAA’s telematics program, MySafeDrive, you could get a discount of up to 10% for signing up, plus earn more savings if you drive safely.

How to get the best car insurance in Arizona
Follow these tips to find the best car insurance in Arizona:
- Determine your coverage needs. Each person has a unique financial situation, so determine how much car insurance you need to protect your wallet. For example, full coverage pays for damage to your own car, up to its market value. If you drive a new vehicle, you probably need full coverage. If you lease or finance your vehicle, the lender will require full coverage. You may also need gap insurance, which can help you pay off your loan if your car is totaled.
- Research insurance companies. Sites like Jerry collect customer reviews and formally review insurers so that you can check their reputations and know what to expect before buying a policy.
- Compare quotes. Once you’ve narrowed your search to a few companies, get quotes from all of them, and be sure you use the same coverage limits when shopping. This will show you which insurer offers the cheapest car insurance for the coverage you need.
Methodology
