Massachusetts minimum auto insurance coverage
On July 1, 2025, Massachusetts raised its mandatory minimum coverage for auto insurance to:
- $25,000 in bodily injury liability per person.
- $50,000 in bodily injury liability per accident.
- $30,000 in property damage liability.
- $8,000 in personal injury protection.
- Uninsured motorist bodily injury coverage of $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident.
Finally, you’ll also need to have personal injury protecting coverage that covers medical expenses, lost wages and replacement services. When you’re looking at car insurance quotes, you should think about if you simply need cheap car insurance or additional, higher protection limits which will cost more but offer greater coverage. By getting several different quotes from different companies, you’ll be able to get an idea of what the average cost of car insurance will be for you.
