Average Car Insurance Rates by Vehicle Make and Model

Car insurance costs vary widely depending on what you drive. The make and model of your vehicle affects your rate because insurers factor in repair costs, theft rates, vehicle safety ratings and the risk profile associated with each car. Based on Jerry’s data, the average driver pays between $127 and $336 per month depending on their vehicle’s make, with Subaru being the most affordable and Tesla being the most expensive to insure.

According to the Insurance Information Institute, your vehicle’s make and model is one of the primary factors insurers use to calculate your premium, alongside your driving history, location and coverage choices. Understanding where your car falls on the cost spectrum can help you plan your coverage budget.

Jerry has helped millions of drivers compare car insurance quotes from 100+ insurers. Here’s what drivers pay by make and model, based on Jerry’s data from the past 12 months.

Mini1

Jerry pulls up to 20 quotes from top rated carriers.

Cheapest car to insure

The make of your car is one of the biggest cost drivers in what you pay for coverage. The table below shows average insurance rates by brand based on Jerry’s data, sorted from lowest to highest average monthly cost. Figures reflect drivers with no accidents, no violations, model year 2016 or newer, and at least 1,000 quotes in our system.

Keep in mind that rates within a brand can vary significantly by model. A Chevrolet Corvette costs much more to insure than a Chevrolet Colorado, even though they’re the same brand. The figures below represent averages across all models in each lineup.

  • Tesla is the single most expensive make at $577 per month on average, nearly double the cost of the cheapest brand.

  • Rates vary widely within each brand. A Chevrolet Corvette costs far more to insure than a Silverado, even though both are Chevrolets.

Acura car insurance

Acura is Honda’s luxury brand, known for performance-oriented vehicles like the Integra, TLX and MDX. Luxury vehicles typically cost more to insure because their higher replacement value and more expensive parts increase claim costs. Jerry drivers pay an average of $411 per month for Acura coverage, or about $4,933 per year — more than most mainstream brands, but well below European luxury competitors.

  • Honda’s shared platform and parts network help keep Acura rates more competitive than standalone luxury brands with proprietary repair ecosystems.

Alfa Romeo car insurance

Alfa Romeo makes a small lineup of Italian performance vehicles: the Giulia sedan, Stelvio SUV and Tonale compact SUV. All three cost significantly more to insure than mainstream brands. Specialized Italian parts, premium repair labor and a sportier driver profile push rates well above average. Based on Jerry’s data, Alfa Romeo drivers pay an average of $541 per month for coverage.

Last Updated May 15, 2026

Key takeaway:

  • The Tonale is the most affordable Alfa Romeo to insure at $75 lowest quote and $484 per month on average: the entry-level model with the most competitive rates in the lineup.

  • The Giulia is by far the most expensive at $591 per month and $7,092 per year.

  • Drivers who own an Alfa Romeo should consider full coverage given the high cost of parts and repairs; an out-of-pocket repair bill on a European performance vehicle can be substantial.

Audi car insurance

Audi offers one of the broadest lineups of any luxury brand, spanning entry-level sedans, full-size SUVs, performance RS and S models, and the E-Tron EV. What you pay depends heavily on which model you choose: Audi’s Q-series SUVs are significantly more affordable to insure than its performance sedans and RS variants. Based on Jerry’s data, Audi drivers pay an average of $445 per month for coverage.

Audi’s German engineering and proprietary parts network mean repair costs are higher than mainstream or Japanese brands. But the spread within the brand is wide — the Q5 averages $364 per month while the RS5 averages $655 per month, a difference of nearly $291 monthly.

  • RS models are the most expensive Audis to insure: the RS5 averages $655 per month ($7,858 per year), the highest of any Audi.

  • The E-Tron EV averages $528 per month, pricier than most Q-series SUVs, in part due to battery repair costs.

BMW car insurance

BMW makes one of the widest model ranges in luxury automotive, covering entry-level 2 Series coupes, the best-selling 3 Series sedan, mid-size 5 Series, full-size 7 Series and the i3 electric vehicle. That breadth means BMW insurance costs vary more within the brand than almost any other make in Jerry’s data. Based on Jerry’s data, BMW drivers pay an average of $515 per month for coverage.

BMW’s higher-than-average repair costs are a core driver of elevated rates across the lineup. German engineering means specialized parts, factory-trained labor and longer repair times compared to domestic or Japanese vehicles.

The performance suffix matters a lot at BMW. A base 3 Series and an M-performance or high-displacement variant share the same nameplate but can differ by hundreds of dollars per month. The 550i averages $707 per month, more than double the entry-level 320 at $381 per month.

BMW also sells plug-in hybrid and electric models including the 330e, 530e and i3. The i3 is actually one of the more affordable models at $392 per month; its lower vehicle value offsets the EV cost premium. Plug-in hybrids like the 330e and 530e run closer to their combustion counterparts.

Buick car insurance

Buick is one of the most affordable brands to insure in Jerry’s data, and the numbers back that up across every model in its lineup. The most affordable car — the Cascada — comes in at just $281 per month. That’s cheaper than many mainstream non-luxury brands, reflecting moderate vehicle values, widely available GM parts and a driver profile that skews toward lower-risk buyers. Based on Jerry’s data, Buick drivers pay an average of $310 per month for full coverage.

Buick sits in a unique position as GM’s near-luxury brand with more refinement than Chevrolet, but sharing many of the same platforms and parts. A Buick Enclave and a Chevy Traverse are mechanically similar, and their insurance rates reflect that. The Enclave averages $285 per month, only slightly more than the Traverse’s $294 per month average.

The exception is the Envista, Buick’s newest compact SUV, which averages $378 per month — nearly $34 more per month than the next most expensive model. Drivers who want to keep costs low will find the Cascada, Enclave and Encore the most cost-effective options.

Cadillac car insurance

Cadillac is GM’s flagship luxury brand, with a lineup spanning compact SUVs, full-size SUVs, performance sedans and electric vehicles. Despite carrying a luxury badge, Cadillac’s insurance costs are more competitive than European counterparts because of shared GM parts infrastructure and a nationwide domestic repair network. Based on Jerry’s data, Cadillac drivers pay an average of $392 per month for full coverage.

The widest gap in the lineup is between Cadillac’s SUVs and its V-series performance sedans. The SRX and XT5 average $298 per month and $318 per month respectively, competitive even by non-luxury standards. The CT4-V and CT5-V push toward $578 to $552 per month. Cadillac has also been expanding into EVs with the Lyriq and Optiq, both sitting at around $411 to $419 per month — mid-range for the brand and far below European EV luxury equivalents.

Chevrolet car insurance

Chevy has one of the most diverse lineups of any brand in the country, covering compact cars, mid-size and full-size trucks, SUVs, electric vehicles and performance cars. That range means insurance costs vary more within Chevrolet than most other mainstream brands. So, what’s the cheapest Chevrolet to insure, and how much does the Corvette really cost?

The Express van averages just $267 per month while the Corvette averages $524 per month. Chevy’s everyday lineup — the Silverado, Equinox, Traverse, Tahoe and Suburban — all fall between $294 and $321 per month, making them some of the most affordable vehicles in their respective classes to insure. GM’s wide parts availability and nationwide service network keep repair costs at a competitive level even for larger vehicles.

Based on Jerry’s data, Chevrolet drivers pay an average of $345 per month for coverage across all models.

Performance model sports cars are the exception. The Camaro averages $498 per month and the Corvette $524 per month, both driven up by higher vehicle values, sportier driver profiles and significantly higher repair costs. Drivers cross-shopping a Silverado and a Camaro should factor in that insurance difference, which exceeds $177 per month.

Chrysler car insurance

Chrysler’s current lineup is built around the Pacifica minivan, along with the Voyager and older models like the Town and Country and 300 sedan. Minivans are among the most affordable vehicles to insure because they are associated with lower-risk drivers and see fewer severe claims. Based on Jerry’s data, Chrysler drivers pay an average of $351 per month for coverage. The split in the lineup is clear: minivan models average under $262 per month while the 300 averages $437 per month, nearly a $175 per month difference within the same brand.

The Canyon SLT averages just $252 per month and the Canyon Denali is $268 per month, both among the cheapest pickups of any brand in Jerry’s data. The Acadia SUV is similarly affordable, with most trims falling between $252 and $350 per month.

The Sierra lineup shows the most variation: light-duty C1500 and K1500 base trims average around $294 to $313 per month, while heavier-duty variants like the Sierra K2500 AT4 reach $396 per month. Denali trims sit between $266 and $369 per month depending on cab class.

The Hummer EV is the most expensive GMC: the Pickup 2X averages $370 per month and the SUV 2X is $417 per month, driven by high vehicle value and battery repair costs. Even so, both remain more affordable than many European luxury vehicles.

Genesis car insurance

Genesis is Hyundai’s luxury brand covering six models, three sedans and three SUVs. It remains more competitive than most European luxury brands due to shared Hyundai parts infrastructure. Based on Jerry’s data, Genesis drivers pay an average of $485 per month.Surprisingly, the most affordable models are the larger ones: the G90 full-size sedan averages $404 per month and the GV60 EV $395 per month. The G70 sport sedan is the most expensive at $530 per month, driven by its performance orientation and a younger, higher-risk driver profile. Drivers choosing between a G70 and a GV70 should factor in that the SUV costs roughly $112 per month less despite the higher sticker price.

Last Updated May 15, 2026

Key takeaway:

  • The G70 is the most expensive Genesis at $530 per month and $6,360 per year. It costs as much to insure as some European luxury models, driven by a younger, higher-risk driver profile.

  • Compared to European luxury rivals, Genesis’s $485 per month average looks less competitive: BMW averages $515 per month, Infiniti $507 per month and Mercedes-Benz $516 per month.

Honda car insurance

Honda is one of the most popular brands in the U.S. with strong safety ratings across the lineup, but is Honda expensive to insure? Based on Jerry’s data, Honda drivers pay an average of $375 per month.

The Odyssey minivan leads at $263 per month, the Ridgeline truck at $283 per month, and the CR-V, Pilot and Passport all between $309 and $316 per month. The Prologue EV is the most expensive Honda at $452 per month. A note for Civic owners: certain model years historically rank among the most stolen vehicles, affecting comprehensive rates.

Last Updated May 15, 2026

Key takeaway:

  • Honda’s minivan and truck are the cheapest models to insure: the Odyssey at $263 per month and the Ridgeline at $283 per month, among the most affordable in their respective classes of any brand.

  • Certain Civic model years rank among the most stolen vehicles in the country, which can raise comprehensive coverage costs depending on trim and model year.

Hyundai car insurance

Hyundai offers a broad lineup of sedans, SUVs, electric vehicles and even a hydrogen model. Insurance costs vary significantly across the lineup, with SUV and crossover models sitting well below the brand average and several sedans running considerably higher. Based on Jerry’s data, Hyundai drivers pay an average of $375 per month for coverage.

The most affordable Hyundais to insure are its larger SUVs. The Palisade full-size SUV averages just $292 per month and the Santa Fe $300 per month — both cheaper than many compact cars from other brands and a reflection of the safety-focused buyer profile those vehicles attract. The Tucson averages $313 per month and the Kona $331 per month, both competitive in the compact SUV class.

The sedans tell a different story. The Sonata averages $423 per month and the Equus $437 per month, notably higher than Hyundai’s SUV lineup. Part of that gap is explained by a well-documented theft risk affecting certain Hyundai sedan and compact SUV models starting around 2022, driven by a viral social media trend that exploited a security vulnerability in older vehicles without engine immobilizers. Hyundai issued software updates for many affected vehicles, but elevated theft rates for certain trims continue to affect comprehensive insurance costs in some markets.

Last Updated May 15, 2026

Key takeaway:

  • The Palisade is the most affordable Hyundai to insure at $60 lowest quote and $292 per month average — a three-row SUV that costs less to insure than most of the brand’s own compact cars and sedans.

  • The Santa Fe, Tucson and Kona average $300, $313 and $331 per month respectively, making Hyundai’s core SUV lineup a strong choice for buyers who want to minimize total ownership costs.

  • The Ioniq EV averages $394 per month, sitting near the brand middle.

  • Drivers shopping a Hyundai sedan should ask about their specific model year; the insurance gap between older and newer Elantra or Sonata trims can be significant depending on how their insurer prices theft risk in their zip code.

  • Hyundai’s $375 per month brand average reflects a lineup where the right model choice can save over $100 per month. Choosing a Palisade or Tucson over a Sonata or Elantra cuts insurance costs by roughly a third, while often providing more vehicle for the money.

Infiniti car insurance

Infiniti shows the sharpest sedan-vs-SUV insurance split of any brand in Jerry’s data. The QX-series SUVs average between $349 and $416 per month, competitive with mainstream non-luxury brands. But the Q sedan and coupe lineup is a different story entirely.

The Q50 averages $631 per month and the Q60 $656 per month, both among the most expensive models of any make Jerry tracks. Based on Jerry’s data, Infiniti drivers pay an average of $507 per month for coverage.

Key takeaway:

  • The QX70 is the most affordable Infiniti at $349 per month.

  • The Q50 ( $631 per month) and Q60 ( $656 per month) are among the most expensive models of any make in Jerry’s data — a Q60 driver pays $7,875 per year on average, more than most European flagship sedans.

  • The gap between cheapest and most expensive Infiniti is $307 per month — choosing a QX70 over a Q60 saves the equivalent of a car payment every single month in insurance alone.

Jaguar car insurance

Jaguar makes a small lineup of British luxury vehicles — SUVs, sedans and a performance sports car — and the insurance cost spread between models is significant. The XJ flagship sedan averages $384 per month while the F-Type sports car averages $576 per month for coverage. Based on Jerry’s data, Jaguar drivers pay an average of $448 per month for coverage. European luxury parts, specialized service requirements and a performance-leaning driver profile across the lineup all push rates above mainstream brands.

The SUV models are the most cost-effective entry point. The F-Pace averages $411 per month— under the brand average and competitive for the luxury SUV class. The F-Type is the outlier at $576 per month and $6,909 per year, driven by its sports car profile and high repair costs after a claim.

Last Updated May 15, 2026

Key takeaway:

  • The XJ is the most affordable Jaguar to insure at $53 lowest quote and $384 per month average — a full-size luxury sedan with rates well below the brand average and comparable to some non-luxury brands.

  • The F-Pace averages $411 per month, making Jaguar’s SUV offerings the most insurance-friendly models in the lineup and a better choice for cost-conscious buyers.

  • The I-Pace EV averages $494 per month, more expensive than the combustion SUVs but below the sedan range, with EV repair complexity factoring into the premium.

  • The F-Type is the most expensive Jaguar at $576 per month and $6,909 per year$192 per month more than the XJ despite both being two-door vehicles.

Jeep car insurance

Jeep is one of the most affordable SUV brands to insure in Jerry’s data, and that holds true across nearly every model in its lineup. Seven of the eight Jeep models average between $295 and $354 per month — a remarkably tight and affordable range for a brand that spans compact crossovers all the way to a midsize pickup truck. Based on Jerry’s data,Jeep drivers pay an average of $320 per month for coverage.

The brand’s affordability comes down to a few factors working in its favor: widespread Stellantis parts availability, a broad and loyal buyer base that skews toward lower-risk profiles on most models, and vehicle values that sit below luxury or performance competitors. The Gladiator pickup and Patriot compact SUV lead the lineup at $301 per month and $295 per month respectively — both among the cheapest trucks and SUVs of any brand in Jerry’s data.

The Wagoneer is the clear outlier at $405 per month and $4,863 per year, it costs roughly $51 per month more than the next most expensive Jeep. As the brand’s premium three-row SUV with a significantly higher vehicle value and repair cost profile, the Wagoneer stands apart from the rest of the Jeep lineup in insurance terms.

Last Updated May 15, 2026

Key takeaway:

  • The Patriot is the most affordable Jeep to insure at $79 lowest quote and $295 per month average — one of the cheapest SUVs of any brand in Jerry’s data and well under $3,540 per year.

  • The Wrangler averages $309 per month and $3,706 per year, affordable for an off-road-capable SUV and only a bit more per month than the Cherokee despite its higher purchase price and more capable drivetrain.

  • The Grand Cherokee averages $354 per month, a step up from the core lineup but still competitive for a midsize SUV. Worth comparing full coverage options given the higher vehicle value.

  • The Wagoneer is the outlier at $405 per month — roughly $96 per month more than the Wrangler and the only Jeep that regularly exceeds $400 per month. Its premium trim level and vehicle value push it into a different insurance bracket from the rest of the brand.

Kia car insurance

Kia’s lineup spans everything from the Sedona minivan to the Stinger sport sedan and EV9 electric SUV, and insurance costs vary widely across that range. Most of Kia’s SUV and minivan models are genuinely affordable to insure, and the Sedona leads at $253 per month. The Stinger performance sedan is the outlier at $489 per month.

One important note: certain Kia models — particularly the Soul, Sportage and Forte — have faced elevated theft rates since 2022 due to the same security vulnerability that affected Hyundai vehicles without engine immobilizers. Kia has issued software updates for many affected trims, but this can still affect comprehensive coverage costs on specific model years depending on your insurer and location.

  • The Carnival, Sorento, Telluride and Sportage all average between $298 and $327 per month, making Kia’s core SUV and minivan lineup among the most cost-effective in their class. The Telluride at $313 per month is a standout — a three-row SUV with insurance costs that rival compact cars.

  • The EV9 averages $350 per month — surprisingly affordable for a large electric SUV, and cheaper to insure than the smaller EV6 at $390 per month, which reflects the EV6’s sportier profile and higher relative repair cost.

  • The Stinger is the most expensive Kia at $489 per month and $5,870 per year — a rear-wheel-drive performance sedan that costs nearly double what the Sedona costs to insure, driven by a sportier driver profile and higher repair costs.

  • Choosing a Sorento over a K5 can cut your annual insurance bill by more than $1,942 per year.

Land Rover car insurance

Land Rover has one of the most complex insurance pricing structures of any brand in Jerry’s data — not just between models, but within them. The Range Rover Sport HSE averages $344 per month while the Range Rover Sport DY averages $562 per month — the same base vehicle, a $218 per month difference. Based on Jerry’s data, Land Rover drivers pay an average of $442 per month for coverage.

The Discovery Sport and Discovery series represent the most affordable entry points into the brand, with most variants averaging between $360 and $422 per month. The Range Rover flagship and Defender models carry the highest rates, driven by premium parts costs, specialized repair requirements and higher vehicle values. The Defender 110 S leads the lineup at $586 per month — more than the brand average.

Key takeaway:

  • The Defender 110 S is the most expensive Land Rover at $586 per month and $7,030 per year, driven by the Defender’s high vehicle value, body-on-frame construction repair complexity and premium parts costs.

  • Land Rover’s $442 per month brand average reflects a genuinely wide spread. Choosing a Discovery Sport over a Defender 110 S or flagship Range Rover can cut annual insurance costs by $2,536 to $2,431.

Lexus car insurance

Lexus is Toyota’s luxury brand and generally one of the more affordable luxury makes to insure… until you get to the performance models. The RX and GX SUVs average between $340 and $352 per month, competitive with many mainstream brands. The RC-F performance coupe, however, averages $707 per month and $8,486 per year, the highest of any Lexus model and one of the most expensive individual models of any make in Jerry’s data. Based on Jerry’s data, Lexus drivers pay an average of $428 per month for coverage.

Toyota’s shared platform and parts network keep Lexus SUV rates well below European luxury competitors. The RX-350, RX and GX average $347 per month — comparable to mainstream midsize SUVs. The performance and coupe lineup tells a completely different story: the RC-F, IS, LC and LX average $558 per month, pulling the brand average well above what most Lexus SUV owners actually pay.

Key takeaway:

  • The CT is the most affordable Lexus to insure at $70 lowest quote and $311 per month average — a compact hybrid hatchback with rates that rival non-luxury vehicles and under $3,735 per year.

  • The RC-F is in a class of its own at $707 per month and $8,486 per year, making it the most expensive Lexus model by a wide margin and more expensive to insure annually than many European performance vehicles. It costs over $4,282 per year more to insure than the RX-350.

  • Lexus’s $428 per month brand average is considerably lower than BMW ($515 per month) or Mercedes-Benz ($516 per month), but that gap narrows sharply if you’re shopping the performance sedan or coupe lineup rather than the SUVs.

Lincoln car insurance

Lincoln is Ford’s luxury brand and one of the more affordable luxury makes to insure in Jerry’s data. Most of its lineup shares platforms, parts and service networks with Ford, which keeps repair costs — and therefore insurance rates — well below European luxury competitors. Based on Jerry’s data, Lincoln drivers pay an average of $355 per month for coverage.

The pricing across Lincoln’s lineup is remarkably tight. Eight of the nine models average between $299 and $426 per month, with very little separation between the entry-level and mid-tier vehicles. The MKT averages $299 per month and the Navigator averages $390 per month.

The Continental and Aviator sit at the top end at $426 per month and $391 per month respectively, reflecting their higher vehicle values. But even those rates are well below what comparable European luxury vehicles cost to insure.

Last Updated May 15, 2026

Key takeaway:

  • The MKT is the most affordable Lincoln to insure at $70 lowest quote and $299 per month average — a full-size luxury wagon with rates that rival mainstream non-luxury vehicles.

  • The Nautilus averages $325 per month and the Corsair $340 per month. Lincoln’s current compact and midsize SUV offerings sit well below the luxury brand average and are competitive with mainstream alternatives.

  • The Navigator averages $390 per month and $4,682 per year — the most expensive current-production Lincoln, but still $100+ per month cheaper than a comparable Cadillac Escalade and far below European full-size luxury SUVs.

  • The Continental averages $426 per month, making it the priciest Lincoln in the dataset, driven by its higher vehicle value as the brand’s flagship sedan.

  • Lincoln’s $355 per month brand average is nearly $160 per month cheaper than BMW ($515 per month) and $161 per month cheaper than Mercedes-Benz ($516 per month). This is a meaningful argument for buyers who want luxury without the European insurance premium.

MINI car insurance

MINI makes just two models with enough quote volume to report on — the Cooper and the Countryman — and both are genuinely affordable to insure despite being a BMW-owned European brand. Smaller vehicle values and modest repair costs relative to BMW’s own lineup keep MINI rates well below what you’d expect from a brand in that family. Based on Jerry’s data, MINI drivers pay an average of $333 per month for coverage.

Cooper $66 $332 $3,984
Countryman $62 $360 $4,319
Last Updated May 15, 2026

Key takeaway:

  • The Cooper averages $332 per month and $3,984 per year, affordable for a European brand and competitive with mainstream domestic compact cars.

  • MINI’s $333 per month brand average is nearly $182 per month cheaper than its parent company BMW ($515 per month), proof that sharing a corporate family doesn’t mean sharing insurance costs.

Mazda car insurance

Mazda is one of the most consistently affordable brands to insure in Jerry’s data, and that holds true across its entire lineup. The spread between its cheapest and most expensive models is only $0 per month — tighter than almost any other brand tracked. Strong safety ratings across the lineup, moderate vehicle values and a broad domestic service network all keep Mazda rates competitive. Based on Jerry’s data, Mazda drivers pay an average of $339 per month for coverage.

The one counterintuitive standout is the MX-5 Miata. Despite being a two-seat sports car, it is the most affordable Mazda to insure at $267 per month — because its low vehicle value offsets the sports car rate premium. Nearly every other model in the lineup averages between $294 and per month, making Mazda one of the most predictable brands to budget for regardless of model choice.

Last Updated May 15, 2026

Key takeaway:

  • The MX-5 Miata is the most affordable Mazda to insure at $267 per month and $3,205 per year, the lowest of any Mazda model and a reminder that sports car insurance costs are more about vehicle value than body style.

  • The CX-9 averages $312 per month — competitive for a three-row SUV and well below comparable models from other brands.

  • Mazda’s $339 per month brand average is fourth lowest of any make in Jerry’s data, behind only Subaru ($295 per month), GMC ($309 per month) and Buick ($310 per month) — and no individual Mazda model exceeds $390 per month.

Mercedes-Benz car insurance

Mercedes-Benz has one of the widest insurance cost spreads of any brand in Jerry’s data. The Sprinter commercial van averages $312 per month while the E63 AMG averages $885 per month — a $573 per month difference within the same brand. Most of that range is driven by AMG performance variants, which carry some of the highest per-model insurance costs tracked across any make. Based on Jerry’s data, Mercedes-Benz drivers pay an average of $516 per month for coverage.

The SUV lineup is where Mercedes-Benz becomes more accessible from an insurance standpoint. The GL450 averages $337 per month, the GLS $410 per month and the GLE $420 per month — all competitive for the luxury SUV class and well below the brand’s headline average. G550 averages just $392 per month, a $327 per month spread within the same nameplate driven by trim-level differences.

Last Updated May 15, 2026

Key takeaway:

  • The Sprinter is the most affordable Mercedes-Benz to insure at $312 per month, a commercial van with rates that have no relation to the brand’s luxury average and among the cheapest vehicles of any make in Jerry’s data.

  • The GLC, GLE and GLS all average between $410 and $432 per month, reasonable for luxury midsize and full-size SUVs, and the best options for Mercedes-Benz buyers who want to keep full coverage costs manageable.

  • EV models span a wide range: the EQB averages $521 per month, the EQE $611 per month and the EQS $815 per month, with the flagship EQS costing more to insure than most performance sedans from other brands.

  • AMG performance variants are among the most expensive models of any make in Jerry’s data. The C63 averages $783 per month ($9,390 per year), the CLE $726 per month and the E63 $885 per month ($10,615 per year) — the highest annual average of any individual model tracked.

  • Mercedes-Benz’s $516 per month brand average is the third highest of any make behind only Alfa Romeo ($541 per month) and Tesla ($577 per month). Buyers who stick to the GLC or GLS will pay far less than that average suggests, while AMG buyers should budget accordingly.

Mitsubishi car insurance

Mitsubishi’s current lineup is small — four models with enough quote volume to report on — and all four are reasonable to insure. The brand’s value-oriented vehicles, moderate repair costs and widespread parts availability keep rates well below the national average across the board. Based on Jerry’s data, Mitsubishi drivers pay an average of $355 per month for coverage.

Last Updated May 15, 2026

Key takeaway:

  • The Outlander is the most affordable Mitsubishi to insure at $345 per month and $4,139 per year — the lowest of any model in the lineup and competitive for a midsize SUV of any brand.

  • The Eclipse averages $352 per month — only $7 per month difference between it and the Outlander, making the two most popular Mitsubishi models nearly identical in insurance cost.

Nissan car insurance

Nissan offers one of the most diverse lineups of any mainstream brand — from the NV commercial van to the Z sports car — and insurance costs reflect that range. The NV averages just $241 per month while the Z averages $636 per month. Most of Nissan’s everyday lineup sits in a competitive band, but the sports models and certain sedans push the average up. Based on Jerry’s data, Nissan drivers pay an average of $374 per month for coverage.

One notable consideration for Nissan buyers: certain models including the Altima, Sentra and Rogue have faced elevated theft rates in recent years. Depending on your model year, trim and location, this can affect comprehensive coverage costs. It’s worth confirming with your insurer how they price theft risk for your specific configuration before choosing coverage levels.

Titan $66 $309 $3,705
Versa $80 $375 $4,495
Z $87 $636 $7,638
Last Updated May 15, 2026

Key takeaway:

  • The NV commercial van is the most affordable Nissan at $241 per month and $2,897 per year — among the cheapest vehicles of any make in Jerry’s data and well below anything else in the Nissan lineup.

  • The Juke ( $288 per month), Frontier ( $286 per month) and Quest ( $306 per month) are the most affordable everyday models, covering a compact crossover, a midsize pickup and a minivan — all under $305 per month and competitive in their respective classes.

  • The Leaf EV averages $465 per month — significantly more than comparable non-EV Nissan models, reflecting battery repair costs. The Ariya EV is more competitive at $403 per month, likely due to its newer platform and broader repair network.

  • The Z is Nissan’s most expensive model at $636 per month and $7,638 per year.

  • Nissan’s $374 per month brand average is in line with other mainstream Japanese brands, but the right model choice matters significantly — the Frontier costs less than half what the Z costs to insure annually.

Porsche car insurance

Porsche makes exclusively performance and luxury vehicles, so there is no budget-friendly end of the lineup. That said, there is still meaningful variation within the brand. The Boxster roadster averages $415 per month while the Taycan EV averages $724 per month. Based on Jerry’s data, Porsche drivers pay an average of $455 per month for coverage, making it one of the more expensive performance brands but below Infiniti, Alfa Romeo and Tesla.

The Cayenne and Macan SUVs are the most cost-effective entry points. Both average at $409 per month — reasonable for the performance SUV class and well below Porsche’s sports car models. The Taycan is the most expensive model in the lineup, with EV repair complexity compounding the brand’s already-elevated parts and labor costs.

Macan $73 $420 $5,039
Panamera $70 $567 $6,804
Taycan $71 $707 $8,488
Last Updated May 15, 2026

Key takeaway:

  • The Boxster is the second-most affordable Porsche at $415 per month and $4,981 per year, one of the lowest of any model in the lineup and competitive with some mainstream luxury brands despite being a two-seat performance roadster.

  • The Cayenne ( $396 per month) and Macan ( $422 per month) are Porsche’s most insurance-friendly SUVs, both averaging at $409 per month and offering the lowest total cost of ownership within the brand. Worth comparing full coverage tiers given the vehicle values involved.

  • The 911 averages $499 per month — more than the Cayenne despite being a smaller vehicle, reflecting its sports car profile and significantly higher repair costs per claim.

  • The Panamera averages $567 per month and $6,804 per year — the most expensive combustion Porsche, driven by its premium sedan positioning and high vehicle value.

  • Porsche’s $455 per month brand average is high by mainstream standards but lower than Infiniti ($507 per month), Alfa Romeo ($541 per month) and Tesla ($577 per month). Buyers who choose the Cayenne or Boxster will pay well below that average.

RAM car insurance

RAM makes a focused lineup of trucks and a commercial van, and all models are competitive to insure. Widespread Stellantis parts availability and a durable, workhorse-oriented buyer profile keep rates competitive across the range. Based on Jerry’s data, RAM drivers pay an average of $330 per month for coverage, one of the most affordable of any truck brand.

Ram $73 $320 $3,844
Last Updated May 15, 2026

Key takeaway:

  • The Promaster van is the most affordable RAM to insure at $302 per month and $3,626 per year — the lowest in the lineup and one of the cheapest commercial vehicles of any brand in Jerry’s data.

  • The RAM 1500 and Ram average $335 and $320 per month respectively, making RAM’s core half-ton lineup among the most affordable full-size trucks to insure of any brand.

  • The RAM 3500 is the most expensive at $372 per month— a meaningful step up from the rest of the lineup, driven by its higher vehicle value as a heavy-duty work truck.

  • RAM’s $330 per month brand average is one of the lowest of any truck brand in Jerry’s data, trailing only GMC ($309 per month) among brands with a primarily truck-based lineup.

Subaru car insurance

Subaru is the most affordable make to insure in all of Jerry’s data, and the model-level numbers show why. The Outback and Forester — two of the brand’s most popular vehicles — average $260 and $259 per month respectively. Consistent top safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), a reliability reputation that limits severe claims and a lower-risk buyer demographic all contribute. Based on Jerry’s data, Subaru drivers pay an average of $295 per month for coverage.

Outback $55 $260 $3,124
Solterra $72 $407 $4,886
Wrx $72 $371 $4,453
Last Updated May 15, 2026

Key takeaway:

  • The Outback is the most affordable Subaru to insure at $260 per month and $3,124 per year — the lowest of any Subaru model and one of the cheapest midsize SUVs of any brand in Jerry’s data.

  • The BRZ averages $413 per month — the priciest model in the data, reflecting the sports coupe’s performance profile and the gap between its repair costs and the brand’s utilitarian norm. Like the WRX, it’s a reminder that one Subaru is not like the others.

  • Subaru’s $295 per month brand average is the lowest of any make Jerry tracks. No other brand comes close to having this many models under $310 per month — it’s the most consistent value story in the data.

Tesla car insurance

Tesla is the most expensive make to insure in Jerry’s data, and the model-level numbers confirm it across the board. Teslas average $582 per month, and the Model S averages $658 per month — more than the entire brand average of most other makes.

But why is Tesla the most expensive car to insure? It comes down to four factors: Proprietary repair networks, expensive battery and body components, high vehicle values and a driver profile that skews toward higher-speed driving all push Tesla insurance well above any other brand.

Model X $75 $637 $7,649
Model Y $70 $527 $6,330
Last Updated May 15, 2026

Key takeaway:

  • The Cybertruck is the most affordable Tesla at $476 per month and $5,717 per year — the lowest in the lineup, though still more expensive than the average for most luxury brands.

  • The Model Y averages $527 per month. This is Tesla’s best-selling vehicle and its most cost-effective sedan or SUV option from an insurance standpoint, making it the most practical choice for cost-conscious Tesla buyers.

  • The Model X averages $637 per month and the Model S $658 per month ($7,893 per year) — flagship pricing that puts both among the most expensive individual models of any make tracked by Jerry.

  • Tesla’s proprietary repair ecosystem is a key cost driver. Because most Tesla body and battery work must go through Tesla-authorized shops, repair times run longer and costs run higher than equivalent damage on non-proprietary vehicles — a dynamic that affects every model in the lineup. Understanding your deductible matters more with Tesla than almost any other brand given the repair cost exposure.

  • Tesla’sper month brand average is the highest of any make in Jerry’s data — $36 per month more than Alfa Romeo ($541 per month) and $61 per month more than Mercedes-Benz ($516 per month). Drivers switching to Tesla from another brand should budget for a meaningful insurance increase regardless of which model they choose.

Toyota car insurance

Toyota is one of the best-selling brands in the world, and its lineup spans more ground than almost any other mainstream brand — from the Sienna minivan and Tacoma pickup to the hydrogen Mirai and GR Supra sports car. For the vast majority of that lineup, insurance is genuinely affordable. But why is Toyota so cheap to insure — and when does it get expensive?

Most Toyota models average between $286 and $691 per month, and the brand’s reputation for reliability, strong crash test performance, high safety ratings and broad parts availability all contribute to rates well below the national average. Based on Jerry’s data, Toyota drivers pay an average of $363 per month for coverage.

The exception is Toyota’s performance lineup. The GR86 averages $638 per month, the GR $517 per month and the Supra $691 per month — all driven by sports car repair profiles and a younger, higher-risk buyer demographic. Outside of those three models, the most expensive Toyota is the Crown at $426 per month. That contrast — between a $286 per month 4Runner and a $691 per month Supra — is one of the widest within-brand spreads of any mainstream automaker.

Venza $70 $355 $4,265
Yaris $75 $326 $3,910
Last Updated May 14, 2026

Key takeaway:

  • The 4Runner is the most affordable Toyota to insure at $286 per month and $3,431 per year — a body-on-frame SUV with rates that rival compact economy cars, driven by durable construction, a loyal long-term owner profile and low claims frequency.

  • The Prius averages $343 per month — affordable for a hybrid and well below the national average, a reflection of the Prius buyer profile historically skewing toward lower-risk drivers.

  • The Supra is in a completely different insurance bracket, averaging $691 per month. At $8,291 per year, the Supra costs more than twice what the 4Runner costs annually to insure, despite being a smaller vehicle. Buyers cross-shopping a performance Toyota against a mainstream model should factor in that insurance gap before committing.

  • Toyota’s $363 per month brand average understates how affordable most of the lineup actually is. Strip out the three performance models and the remaining 24 models average well under $350 per month — making Toyota one of the most cost-effective brands to own and insure across nearly its entire range.

Volkswagen car insurance

Volkswagen offers a lineup of European-designed sedans, SUVs and an electric vehicle, and most models are more affordable to insure than you might expect from a European brand. The Touareg SUV leads at $305 per month. Based on Jerry’s data, Volkswagen drivers pay an average of $348 per month for coverage.

VW’s affordability relative to other European brands comes down to a broad North American parts and service network and vehicle values that sit below luxury competitors. The Arteon is the clear outlier at $421 per month, reflecting its premium positioning as the brand’s flagship fastback sedan.

Tiguan $67 $315 $3,775
Touareg $62 $305 $3,665
Last Updated May 15, 2026

Key takeaway:

  • The Touareg is the most affordable VW to insure at $305 per month and $3,665 per year, a midsize SUV with rates that rival mainstream domestic brands and the lowest average in the lineup.

  • The Atlas ( $310 per month), Tiguan ( $315 per month) and CC ( $289 per month) average at $305 per month, making VW’s SUV lineup one of the most competitively priced in the European brand category.

  • The Arteon is the most expensive VW at $421 per month and $5,054 per year $116 per month more than the Touareg, making it the only VW that approaches luxury brand insurance territory.

  • VW’s $348 per month brand average is well below German luxury peers BMW ($515 per month) and Mercedes-Benz ($516 per month), and competitive with mainstream Japanese and domestic brands despite being a European make.

Volvo car insurance

Volvo is a Swedish luxury brand with a long-standing emphasis on vehicle safety, and that reputation translates into insurance costs that are more competitive than most European luxury competitors. The V60 wagon leads at $327 per month and most of the lineup sits between $308 and $425 per month, a tight and affordable range for a premium brand. Based on Jerry’s data, Volvo drivers pay an average of $363 per month for coverage.

Volvo’s consistent top safety scores from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety help offset the premium repair costs that push other European luxury brands higher. The S60 is the outlier at $425 per month, reflecting its sedan profile and sportier trim variants relative to the rest of the Volvo lineup.

Key takeaway:

  • The S60 is the most expensive Volvo at $425 per month and $5,097 per year. This is the only model that exceeds $400 per month, driven by its sedan profile and a buyer demographic that skews more performance-oriented than Volvo’s SUV buyers.

  • Volvo’s $363 per month brand average is nearly $152 per month cheaper than BMW ($515 per month) and $153 per month cheaper than Mercedes-Benz ($516 per month), making it one of the most compelling value propositions in the European luxury segment from a total ownership cost perspective.
