Can I drive legally in South Carolina with a license from a different state?

If I want to drive a car here, can I still do that legally? I'm in the state for college, but my driver's license is from California.

“If your permanent residence is in another state, you can drive legally in
South Carolina

may be a different story. Depending on your driving situation, you may want to consider purchasing
non-owners car insurance
, or at least make sure you’re covered under another policy.”
