Can I get a title loan without my car?

I need some quick cash to cover some unforeseen bills and I want to take out a car title loan, but I let my son borrow the car for a few months while they’re working on location. Can I get a title loan if I don’t currently have the car?

Yes: You can get a title loan without your car, assuming the following:
  • Title loans are legal in your state
  • You can find a willing lender
Most lenders will want to inspect the vehicle before approving a title loan since your car acts as collateral. But title loan requirements vary from lender to lender, and you may be able to find one who will settle for pictures of your car over a vehicle inspection.
At the very least, you’ll need to be able to provide the following to get approved for a title loan:
