Do I need an umbrella policy if I don't have a vehicle or insurance, but I rent cars frequently for day/weekend trips out of San Francisco?

My partner and I go on frequent trips using rental cars. Since we don't have a car, we don't have car insurance. However, I was trying to figure out a way to cover us both with an umbrella policy on top of liability. Do you think I need this?

“To protect yourself financially, it’s a great idea to get an umbrella policy, especially if you rent cars fairly frequently.
For you, getting
non owners car insurance
is probably the best choice. You can add an umbrella policy to that to cover claims in excess of your regular auto insurance.
Keep in mind that non owners insurance only covers liability, so if you’re worried about other damage, you may want to consider getting the rental car company’s collision damage waiver. But you can skip the supplemental liability.
