How do I fix a 2003 Ford Ranger dome light that stays on?

I have a 2003 Ford Ranger that I use for work. Recently, I’ve come across an issue where the dome light stays on, so I’ve been having to disconnect the battery. Long story short—it’s super annoying. Is there a way to fix this issue?

A dome light that stays on in a 2003 Ford Ranger is a more common problem than you might think, but it’s super easy to fix by using one of these solutions:
  • Turn the dimmer roller switch up. This switch is located near the headlight control to the left of the steering wheel. If you push this roller switch to the top, your dome light will stay on automatically. Roll it back down to see if this fixes the problem.
  • Look for the dome light activation switch inside the door jamb of the vehicle. Sometimes, this can get stuck, which causes your dome light to stay on. If you spray it with lubricant and push it in a few times, this should solve the issue.
