I just hit 60,000 miles in my 2019 Toyota Prius, and want to change the transmission fluid myself rather than take it to a shop. How do I get under the hood?
First, *pull the hood lock release lever under your car’s steering wheel (look for the icon of a car with its hood open). Pulling this lever will release the hood a couple of inches so you can access the safety latch.
Second, exit your vehicle and move to the front of your car’s hood. Just under the hood in the center, you should feel a secondary auxiliary safety latch. To release it, pull up the catch lever and lift the hood.
Prop the hood open with the support rod, and you’re good to go!
