To avoid any confusion, the state encourages buyers and sellers to head to their nearest DMV office to complete the title transfer process. If you go it alone, you could be held accountable for any fees or damages resulting from an error.
Complete your car title’s “Transfer of Title by Seller” section. Fill in the buyer’s name and address, the odometer reading, the sale price, and the date of the sale.
Sign the form where indicated.
Ask the buyer to complete an Application for Certificate of Title With/Without Registration form.
Submit both forms to a Florida DMV office.
Remember: you must transfer the vehicle title within 30 days, or you risk being charged a late fee by the Florida DMV. Luckily, the process shouldn’t take too long. Congrats on selling your car!
