Is it illegal to park in front of a mailbox?

Will I get a ticket if I park in front of my mailbox? I live in a pretty crowded area that only has street parking and sometimes when I get home late it’s really hard to find a spot. I never park in front of mailboxes because I’m worried about getting in trouble!

Technically, it’s not illegal to
park your car
in front of a mailbox, as there are no laws against doing so. However, you still might get into some trouble if you block access to the mailbox by a USPS postal carrier.
If you do block your mailbox (or someone else’s), it’s possible that the postal carrier won’t deliver your mail. However, many postal carriers in large cities walk their routes rather than drive them, so it might be worth contacting your local post office to learn more about how blocking your mailbox could affect you.
