How does Progressive’s ‘Name Your Price’ tool work?

I’m looking for insurance but I’m on a budget, and I noticed that Progressive has a tool that lets you name your own price for your policy. Does this really work? Can I choose how much I want to pay for my car insurance?

Progressive’s
Name Your Price® tool lets you input how much you’d like to pay for car insurance and then shows you coverage options that fit within your budget.
If you name a reasonable price (i.e., not $20 per month), Progressive’s tool is a good starting point when you’re
shopping for auto insurance
—but it’s just a starting point. You’ll need to go through the Progressive quote process and you’ll probably need to adjust the coverage levels, which will change the total cost.
Here are some pros and cons to consider:
Benefits
Drawbacks
You can see how altering the coverage options changes the price
Opting for the cheapest coverage may leave you underinsured if you’re involved in an accident
It’s a quick and easy way to find a deal with Progressive
You can’t see price comparisons from other insurance providers—so you might be missing a better deal elsewhere
You can find options that help you stick to your budget
The bottom line: You won’t be able to name your own price for the
car insurance coverage
you want and then simply make the purchase.
