When merging onto the freeway, what speed should you be driving?

I just got my license. I’m getting ready to take a trip where I’ll have to drive on the highway, and I want to make sure I do everything right. I know I learned about this in driver’s ed, but I forgot what the rule is. How fast should I be going when merging onto the highway?

Congratulations on getting your license! It can take a while to get used to the rules of the road as
a new driver
. But try not to stress too much!
When merging onto the freeway, you should be driving at or near the speed of the other cars. If you’re going a little slower, that’s okay, but the idea is to avoid disrupting the flow of traffic. Use your time on the ramp or in the merging lane to build up speed until you can merge into traffic smoothly.
When you’re a new driver, it can be hard to find affordable car insurance. The solution? Go to
