Why is my Toyota Tundra making a ticking noise?

Recently, I noticed my Tundra making a ticking noise when I first started it up, but it would go away once I began to drive. Now, the ticking noise is there all the time. Why is this happening?

It’s always disconcerting when vehicles make sounds they shouldn’t. Your
Toyota Tundra
could be making a ticking noise for a few different reasons, all of which could be harmful to your truck’s engine if not addressed timely.
One of the most common causes for the ticking noise is low oil level or low oil pressure which is often the result of an oil leak. Motor oil keeps your Tundra’s engine well-lubricated and running smoothly. When the oil is low or there’s insufficient oil pressure, the components of your engine can overheat and break.
There may also be a problem with your Toyota Tundra’s ignition system. If the alternator or
battery
are malfunctioning this can eventually cause the truck’s
starter
to die.
Or it might be an exhaust leak. A crack in the exhaust manifold can create a ticking sound under the hood. It may also trigger your Tacoma’s
Check Engine Light to turn on
.
