How do I open the gas tank on a 2011 BMW 535i?
I’m borrowing my sister’s car, and I can’t seem to figure out how to open the gas tank to fill it up. Is there a button somewhere?

Can’t find the gas tank release button on your 2011
BMW 525i
? That’s because there isn’t one! All you have to do is press the gas tank, and it’ll pop right open.However, there is one key thing to note: your BMW must be both in Park and unlocked. As soon as you shift into Drive (or Reverse) and subsequently lock your vehicle, the gas tank door will lock, too!
Once the door is open, you can remove the cap by simply turning it to the left until it comes off. When you’re all finished refueling, replace it by twisting it to the right until it clicks and fully seals. Then just press the door closed, and you’re all set.
If you’re unable to open the gas tank in this manner, you’re likely experiencing some sort of mechanical issue. Take your BMW to a professional mechanic or your local dealership for further assistance.
